Glycine is like my new magic supplement for sleep and repairing my digestive tract. Since I talked about it in my FB group live today, I created this post so you can catch up on the research.
Sleep
As far as sleep goes, when I take glycine, I sleep like a rock. It’s clearly living up to its reputation for me, I hope it does for you!
Here’s the glycine we take. It goes in my nighttime “short” smoothie: 4 oz raw milk, 1/2 serving chocolate protein powder and 1 scoop glycine (3 grams).
Gut Tissue Repair
Regarding gut health, glycine is pretty essential for keeping that healthy. And I do mean all 18 feet of it!
You know, most of us think of the belly area when we think of the gut. But a healthy gut means the entire tract is impermeable: nothing gets in the tract except via mouth, nothing gets out except via anus.
Glycine can help repair the tissues throughout your entire digestive tract which means many of the symptoms pictured below may be healed as well. Not pictured is the esophagus but it’s included, part of the tract :)

Glycine might be the most essential amino acid we can consume. It goes so much further than I could have imagined. I read James DiNicolantonio's book on Glycine in the Spring and was absolutely blown away.
