KU tried to coerce us to change out ours for a smart meter about a year ago. I borrowed my mother-in-law’s emf meter and put it on our neighbor’s house. It was off the charts in a massive pulse about every 3 seconds. We said no. So they charge us an extra $15 a month now for the privilege of not being microwaved. Disgusting bastards.

We’re going to deal with the charge later, that’s not right. And good for you! what was the meter, do you remember? I need to get a good one.

I’m not sure. They let us keep our old meter, but charge us $15 extra a month to come check it. I said I’m happy to check it for them and they did say I could send them a picture of the meter each month so they wouldn’t have to send someone but I would still be charged $15. So I built a spiked fence entrance to that part of the yard and locked it. The first couple months they sent guys to check it and had to ask me in. I gave them massive ear fulls both times. Now I don’t see anyone. They come while I’m away or just charge me an average based on past months.

Haha, I knew they could manage it.

Matt, we have a similar situation with a locked entrance. We call it in once a month (or you can enter it on their website under Advanced Services) but are still charged the $15. I would welcome any suggestions as to how to repeal the charge. :)

I tried going toe-to-toe with Opelika Power Services, but they flat-out refused. We were NOT notified b4 they surreptitiously installed it. This was around the same time my health was derailed. With the debilitating chronic fatigue I was not able to fight. I was and have been too busy trying to regain my health. This damn smart meter may be a big part of why I cannot get well. My husband also has fatigue, memory issues, joint pain etc.

I would appreciate any suggestions where I might find help.

Thank you. Regards. Carol

I believe there’s a bill in Congress to force an opt out. So contact your “representatives” and request that. I’ll keep you Posted on what happens here.

OMG this is awful Sally. I’m going to call and opt out of mine — been on my to do list. Thanks for the tip about wireless.

I have some new friends who can help you I think — do you know Jack and Margy Flynn?
