Plan A: DLPA
According to Plan A of the Coffee Quitting Quest, at 6am this morning, I took two 500mg DLPA*. By 9:30, I was jumpy and my heart was pounding. Plus, I wanted coffee. Not crazy for coffee like usual, just mildly obsessing. I could have done without it, but by ten, I just didn't feel right, a little speedy. So, naturally, I had two tiny cups of coffee, just to calm myself down. Worked like a charm. Coffee is kinda like aspirin: it finds where you hurt and makes it all better.
Clearly, some are sicker than others.
Tomorrow, I go to Plan B: green tea, starting with some black mixed in so I can wean off the caffeine. Enough of this beating around the bush, just git on with it. I've quit this way a few times and it works great, just takes longer. I expect a milder headache for two or three afternoons/evenings. But as long as I avoid the Big One, I'm good.
The problem for me with a decaf/regular coffee mixture, dialing down the caffeine everyday, is that it's too much like the real thing. "Gateway coffee" as Sarah said! It's why I don't drink Near Beer. I'm afraid I'd be knockin' back the Buds in short order. That would not be pretty. At least, it wasn't last time.
*I found out DLPA is made from a genetically modified enzyme. Yep, GMO. Gross. Now I don't feel the least tiny regret throwing away the rest of the bottle.
Now that we are moved into the new house, it's time to see if I can beg my way into Kelly the Kitchen Kop's online class a week late. How nice to know someone who did all the learning curve stuff for me, and is willing to share!!! I hated missing the sign-up, but too much going on here trying to get moved in. Maybe she'll take pity on me. She would if she could see my hair. I look like Albert Einstein right now (but I don't care because it's growing back!) Talk about pretty.
