Coronavirus: What I'm Reading, Watching
We are all afraid right now. We're just not ALL afraid of a virus. I don't like being afraid so when panic rears its head, I question everything and start researching.
In 2006, my 12yo son's doctor said Ryan would be on Singular* and Albuterol for the rest of his life. He'd already been on both since he was 3yo. This idea that my perfect precious would need meds the rest of his life put me into an angry panic. I refused to accept it and started researching.
It turns out, he didn't have asthma, he had food allergy-induced asthma. Food allergies. We changed his diet, he took up gymnastics and threw away the drugs. He's 28 now and if he wheezes, I know he's eating crap. Moms always know.
In 2005, Hal's baby sister was on her last legs, dying of breast cancer at 42yo. Hal and I were 50 & 55, "cancer ready ages" and we did NOT want to suffer that. So I started researching cancer, how to prevent it, how to heal it.
These two life-changing research events put me on a pursuit of healing and health from which I have not recovered :)
I've learned that doctor and hospital error is the 3rd leading cause of death (some say leading). I learned the corrupt history of the AMA and how it fought to make alternative healing illegal. I now question conventional medicine and any doctor's advice until I've thoroughly investigated it.
And, yeah, since I woke up at 15 and spoke against the Vietnam War in the early 70s, I question authority. Actively and always.

The media and government used the word "pandemic" to terrify us. It worked because of our ignorance. I finally looked it up: a pandemic is when a lot of people over a wide geographical area get a disease. It has nothing to do with projected death rates.
Every winter, we have a pandemic of flu during which HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people die. We are so used to that pandemic, we don't use the word anymore. We just call it "the flu".
This is the flu with panic added by media and gov. They whipped up a frenzy & terrified us into being locked in our homes. I get how that happened THEN... but now? Now that we have real life stats and experience from across the globe?
Now that we know 99% of the infected recover?
And when did y'all start trusting media and gov?
The 6 corporations that own ALL of the MSM are all funded 50-70% by pharma companies and Kellogg's. Why would you trust anything they say? Media can't even get the weather right. And they've been caught in so many lies trying to sensationalize the news, it would be funny if we weren't in such dire straits because we believed them. We totally forgot "fool me once...".
As far as gov, our public servants all trusted ONE researcher's model that said millions would die, 2.2 of those millions in the US. Without doing their own research, without ever seeing the code that Ferguson wrote 13 years ago, our servants took those wildly inflated numbers and crammed them down our throats.
Well that model has been proven incorrect not only by the results, but by many, many researchers, statisticians and mathematicians who have now seen Ferguson's code and were shocked at how many errors they found.
If you did your research, you would have known this two weeks ago when it came out.
Yes, when we reopen, more people will get it. That's a GOOD thing, we want that. If you are vulnerable, stay home. Remember: 99% of those infected recover. That's how we get herd immunity. Herd immunity slows and eventually stops the spread. It is the ONLY way to protect the vulnerable.
Many of you know someone affected so it's harder to tamp down those emotions, I do get that. You might even know someone who died (although there won't be many of you because not that many people have died.)
Still, I'm begging you: step away from your emotions and look at the FAQs. Wouldn't you teach your kid to use intellect over emotion?
P.S. If you get it, don't be put on a ventilator. The survival stats are not good. If you did your research, you'd know that, too.

It seems at this point very likely that the next Democratic president will use the precedents being set right now to justify dramatic infringements on our liberties for the sake of fighting the climate change bogeyman, or any number of other real or imagined threats. The government projected that millions would die from the coronavirus and used that as a justification for effectively suspending the Bill of Rights, locking millions of Americans in their homes, forcibly closing millions of businesses, relegating entire sectors of the workforce to the unemployment line, arresting pastors, quarantining whole cities, and banning people from walking outside unless they do so for an approved reason. Many Americans have cooperated approvingly with these measures, despite the fact that they are destroying our economy and bringing us closer and closer to a crash and eventual depression unlike anything we’ve yet seen. It does not take a fortune teller to detect where this might go next.

I just posted a video from Dr. Pam Popper who lives in Columbus. She said people there are out of food and out of money. The jails are being emptied, courts are closed, criminals are not being prosecuted. It’s low risk being a thief or a Vandal or engaging in violence right now. Not much chance of prosecution unless you kill somebody.

Dr. Deborah Birx is an old hand at NIH and in the fight against HIV. She was an Obama appointee after many years in the medical service. She has been given the microphone. She may seem new to some, but her moment of opportunity is the result of decades of hard work.
She is saying what is obvious. The early scare was based on predictions for which there was no data. We now have data. They do not warrant such a high level of concern. In fact, estimates of deaths have been reduced by over 95%. And that reduction was made before society was shut down, not as a result of the shut down.
It appears that this is a bad flu season, not the black death.
